Heimdall package for Samsung Galaxy Anycall S [SHW-m110s] - Korean handset firmware/android upgrade

Ok guys. If you are one of those folks who purchased a Korean Anycall due to any reason and stuck with its old Android version then this post is for you.

First refer to this post from XDA

If your phone is not detected by ODIN or if you 'bricked' your phone then Heimdall is for you. You can find more info from XDA post here about Heimdall. A word of caution,

DO NOT TRY TO USE ANY OF I9000 FIRMWARE ON M110S.

M110S is not i9000 and if you try then you've a 'semi bricked' phone. You'll end up with a phone that doesnt start or recognize the SIM card.

To recover you can use this package for M110S. I've installed on my Anycall a week ago and it's working fine. Here goes the mediafire links.

http://www.mediafire.com/?dkb1v53q6g54b58
http://www.mediafire.com/?208p10tkbki6w40

Download both files and merge with HJSPLIT.

If your phone is i9000 then you should use the heimdall for the same. This is only for Anycall.

  6. Yes. Odin can't do it and that's where Heimdall can help. Check the link above in the main post and follow heimdall.
Most importantly make sure you are not using with a wrong firmware/model.

  10. Yes. As long as you are running the stock rom you should be able to see it. *#06# works for me on stock gingerbread (my uploaded links)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Alternatively *#0*# in test mode where you can see IMEI too.

For my m110s i have flashed sbl.bin that i don't know about where i downloaded before I see your ROM. it would be better if i see your blog faster!

    1. :| I don't think Odin can make phone in that way. did you tried to go in to the three button download mode (or two button with firmware if succesfully installed).

I did the same mistake and that's when I started looking in to Heimdall and managed to make it work. Try it and it should happen.

    2. while the phone was still working, i got into the download mode using the 2 buttons, after flashing, odin gave a failure. waited for a couple of minutes but the phone was frozen, so i removed the battery, plugged it back in and since then the phone does not start at all.
have tried all button combinations, 3 button vol-up, vol-down, 2 button, but the phone does not respond. it is not detected in Hiemdall as well.

    3. Lame suggestion but try to charge it for few hours then try the download mode. I experienced that the battery drain was much faster when it's in download mode with screen @ full brightness.

As long as you can go in to download mode you can make it happen with heimdall. Best of luck.

  15. okay so heres the problem, I tried to update the firmware to 4.0 I didn't knew that this phone is from Any Call. When I pull out the battery it is written that it is i9000. Anyways I updated the phone from the phone recovery and it did worked at first but it wasnt detecting the sim. I rebooted my phone once again but it never started, when ever i try to start my phone it goes to RECOVERY mode directly and it doesn't work.
I tried to go to the download mode by pressing Up + mid button + power button still it only goes into recovery. What is the solution to this? Please tell me the complete solution as I am total noob at this. Please help me.

Before please make sure you've heimdall installed, try to use the stock firmware (above).

    1. Hi, Yes it is SHW-M110S model (or Samsung KT anycall). The ROM you should use is the stock ROM from KT/Samsung which was attached above. check your firmware version by going in to settings to make sure you are using the correct version.

To upgrade/change, the steps are rather simple. Details are in XDA with screenshots

      1. Make sure the phone is fully charged
      2. Go in to Download mode (Home+Power+Volume)
      3. Connect to the laptop
      4. Start Heimdall. If it recognizes then it's fine. If not install the driver (Under Heimdall folder --> Drivers --> Zadig).
      5. Select the Heimdall package and update.
No need to change any default settings.

  18. Okay so I tried doing the whole process, in download mode while flashing the rom eventually my phone got stuck and it didn't work. After this I was even unable to go to the download mode. Then I don't know how I managed to flash the i9000 rom and it worked but it is not recognizing the sim card and the centre button dose not work anymore. Can you please guide me to this

    1. Thats's the thing. There is no way you can use i9000 ROM on M110. If you use, then it can't detect the SIM, can't use the home button; whn you see your radio version (settings) it doesn't show anything; no IMEI. All this is due to the wrong ROM.
You got to install the M110S stock rom. No other means..

    2. Srichakra, Well I cannot find the model of my phone. On the back of the phone it says GT-I9000 but the ROMS for I9000 are not working, while after starting the phone its bluetooth name says SWH-M110S and I tried what you have mentioned above but my phone got stuck :/. My phone doesn't have a TV antenna and I've heard that M110S has a TV antenna. I don't know how to recognize the Phone model. I've been ruined. Please help me with this problem. What should I do further to restore my phone? Serious help needed.

  21. I am facing the same problem. Got a Samsung Galaxy I9000 as per the vendor. It was running i9000 GM (Android 2.3.6 ROM). Wanted to installed the Helly Bean (4.1 Rom) like on my captivate. Was successful in rooting the phone and got CWM installed. But the phone kept booting in the CWM menu. After that I tried an XDA form and installed a PIT file. This was the point it was hard bricked. After this I had to give it in the market and a guy was able to JTAG in it. After the JTAG, the phone booted with a "Anycall Logo". The guy told me that the phone has a M110 motherboard, but the M110 firmware is not getting installed in it.

After this he tried installing the I9000 (android 2.1) stock ROM and firmware and the phone did boot. But the same issue, IMEI and baseband is missing. The SIM does not get detected and not signals.

The guy has been trying to fix the phone since the last week , but he could not. I may receive the phone back tomorrow and hopefully fixed. But I will get it in Android 2.1 Eclair format (even it gets fixed).

I think the there are some creative people siting in Karachi who are changing the casing of ANYcall phones and selling them as Galaxy i9000.

I never had any issue with the Samsung Captivate but this one has totally messed me up.

Would really appreciate some help. Anyone who has faced the same issue and actually knows a solution to get the IMEI back. I did not make an EFS back (took the risk like on Captivate).

    1. Understood. So the M110 and 9000 both are different hardware and the firmware is quite different. So only way is to make it go back to original. i.e. installthe stock rom from KT anycall.
You can give a try with heimdall and above rom but fingers crossed. If the vendor/seller is supporting you, then leave it to him to make it default/factor settings. then you can try to upgrade with samsung kies.

    2. Really appreciate you taking out time for the advice. Called the repair guy today, he is still unsuccessful in recovering the IMEI or Baseband. The Korean version is really a pain in the B**t. He was able to JTAG it but stuck on this step. Do you think that this is happening due to any mistakes he has done during JTAG?

Secondly, do you think this can be resolved through any ROM/KERNEL flashing or the guys has to JTAG again?

The above two Media Fire links you posted have instructions of being merged with HJsplit Dont know what that means? (why are there two files as all the ROMs I have downloaded were just one Tar/zip file). Is HJsplit another system utility or part of Heimsdall? Secondly is this a GB ROm ? and if it a GB ROm is it a stock ROM and if I should try to flash it? Can you kindly elaborate on this?

Ahsan and Adnan have you guys been able to find a remedy, which cities are you guys in at the moment. I am stuck in Multan and have only one person who has some idea about the phone, it looks like the phones we got are some kind of i9000 and M110 hybrids.

      Delete
    3. Actually I don't see why JTAG is needed unless the phone is bricked totally.

HJSPLIT is a small utility to merge two or more files. This is not part of heimdall.

The 1GB is the entire ROM suite (includes all the radio, kernel, modem..etc). This is to simplify the entire process.

  23. Noted. I actually had to get JTAG done on my phone because it was totally bricked. The phone did not turn on at all as if it had hardware failure. The good thing was that the person charged me quite a bit of money to JTAG and get it running after opening the phone and doing the soldering process.

Will check up from the repair guy if he has been able to fix it. Incase not, then will try to go and flash this file. He doesn't show me what process/application he uses to flash the files. Says that he has a samsung repair toolkit and flashed from it. Should I ask him to do the flashing or just simply try it through heimsdell?

Would appreciate if you could clarify the above query. Really appreciate the swift responses.

    thank you

    1. My guess is the repair guy may be using ODIN. You can try through ODIN (but need to use a different files (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772718). If not you can try with Heimdall which is relatively easy and few clicks process.

    2. Trying to flash the device when I press start, it say

ERROR: Failed to access device. libusb error:-12

How can I resolve this problem, the drivers seem correct as Heimdall detects the device when I press detect device and ODIN also detects it.

      Any easy solution?

    3. Can you also tell me how do to it with ODIN, which version of ODIN would be required, download link ? and also what do I do with this file to flash it. It seems to be getting frustrating by the min.

  24. hooooofff. I made it.... Mr. Chakra you are the man. I have the phone finally working now after downloading the above files. The phone is working and running stable now.

Just a few issues. The 80 SMS character issue has come now. Second I cannot see the area to check the IMEI number of the device. Even I try the *#06# code, it does not show the IMEI number either.

Secondly, I wanted some advise from you. When I got the phone, it was running on an i9000 rom, it said the same while booting, in the bases band and everywhere. I was just wondering have you heard of anyone porting the I9000 ROM to this device.

I actually dont want to keep the phone in this form. Will only keep it I can get ICS on it and everything works fine.

I know you have said that there are some differences between the two phone, but is there some way that one can separate the modems from the M110 Rom and flash them after installing the I9000 ROM.

Even if I want to sell the phone, I will have to CON someone to thinking that it is i9000. So if there is someway of changing the boot up screen and the information in the "about section"

    1. Glad it worked. No worries and a little contribution to the XDA-Dev.

The 80 sms is an issue. There are some ways to overcome but that requires rooting and installing very specific files

Reg i9000, I've not seen anyone running it on M110. W I'll check in my next trip to seoul to see. But knowing this phone is already 2 + years old I doubt there will be much development.

your guidance is required to me because I am new user of Galaxy S GT-I9000 Korean version.

I brought it to market for software repairing. Software Installer wrongly flashed it by froyo. when process had completed, all other functions, including Wifi etc were working nice but No Network detection. In About Phone option Baseband "Unknown" and IMEI# disappeared on *#06# command.

After that I have tried several Roms (Stock and customs) but problem is still same.
